Lynn
is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and
has extensive experience in dog behavior & training,
safe animal handling, canine temperament evaluations,
teaching dog obedience, canine behavior counseling, and
training & competing in dog agility. She started her
professional pet care business, Pet Works Professional
Pet Care Services, in May 2005.
Lynn began her career in animal behavior six years ago
at the Erie County SPCA, developing and directing the
innovative Animal Behavior & Training Department. Her
duties included canine and feline behavior advice,
training & stress reduction programs for the shelter
animals, Family Companion and Puppergarden dog obedience
programs, canine temperament evaluations, pet adoption
counseling, and the TLC Program, which taught inner-city
teens to train shelter dogs using positive reinforcement
(praise and reward) techniques. She and her husband John
welcomed many foster dogs into their North Buffalo home
during that time.
Her philosophy on training pets is to understand why
they do what they do, and to use scientifically proven
positive reinforcement techniques and good management to
elicit any behavior modifications that are necessary.
She believes that learning never ends, and frequently
attends behavior and training seminars throughout the US
and Canada, including the Pets For Life Program for
shelters sponsored by the HSUS. She is constantly
conferring with a great network of area trainers and
behavior consultants, as well as associates across the
country via the internet.
Lynn enjoys working with and teaching the owners as much
as she enjoys the company and training of the animals!
She believes that training and living with pets should
be fun and rewarding, and when she creates a training
program, she always tries to make sure everyone, human
and canine, is enjoying the training.
She competes in dog agility with her two “All-American”
dogs, Riley and Amber, who have earned many higher level
titles in NADAC, CPE, and USDAA. Both dogs have also
earned their Canine Good Citizen certificates.
Lynn currently volunteers with Second Chance Sheltering
Network, the Erie County SPCA, and Feral Cat Focus.
