What is Dock
Jumping?
Dock jumping is a dog's dream come
true. It involves a dog, a handler, a dock, and a toy.
A dog runs down a dock and jumps into the water to see how far
it can jump! How far can your dog go? The current
World Record is held by a greyhound/coonhound mix named Country
at 28'10".
Any dog is able to compete.
There are no restrictions for breed, size, or age.
Competitions are held all around the USA and Canada.
There are many organizations
involved in this sport. They include DockDogs, Ultimate
Air Dogs, SplashDogs, and the SRS. More information about
each of these organizations can be found by clicking on their
names and visiting their websites. Upcoming events for
each organization are listed on their websites.
Canine Sports Complex is now
offering dock jumping classes. They are held on Saturday
afternoon, but there is also the possibility of drop-in's at
other times. The outdoor training season is just about
over, but strength training continues during the winter months.
